Pool Rules
Crest View Pool Association
Rules and Regulations
Updated and Approved: 2025 Association Meeting (original 2004 version). Re-Issued May 16, 2025.
Thank you for your attention to these rules, designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Pool safety is critically important to CVPA.
General Responsibilities
All members are responsible for keeping the pool area clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
Supervision of Children
Children 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent, delegated guardian (with written notice to the President), or responsible family member age 16 or older.
Children aged 12–16 may swim unaccompanied only if a parent confirms to the President that the child is water-safe and arranges supervision by an adult member. They may not bring guests without a parent.
Family members aged 16–18 may bring one guest per visit.
Pool Behavior and Safety
No running or roughhousing in or around the pool.
No erratic or “bomb” diving. Use the diving board gently—no hard bouncing.
No diving from the pool deck, especially in shallow areas.
Non-pool games (e.g., football) must be played outside the pool enclosure.
Guest Policy
Guests must sign the CVPA Release of Liability. Host members must also sign.
Each family may bring up to 4 guests per visit (age 18+ only). This privilege may not be used to bring the same guest group regularly.
No glass containers in the pool area. Only cans or non-breakable containers are allowed. A broken glass incident may require full pool drainage.
No cooking within the pool enclosure.
Guest events must be approved by the Pool President or Vice President at least 24 hours in advance. Events may last one meal and up to three hours. A notice must be posted at the pool entry 24 hours before the event. Events do not exclude other members from using the pool.
At least one senior family member must be present at guest events involving minors.
Houseguests
Houseguests may use the pool with prior notice to the President or Vice President and must sign the Release of Liability. Host members must be present during their use.
Parking
No overnight parking without written approval from the President.
Daytime parking is only allowed for pool use or with prior request to the President.
Pets and Diapers
No pets are allowed inside the pool area per Contra Costa County Health regulations.
Children in diapers must wear waterproof swim diapers.
Gate and Lock Policy
Gates must remain locked at all times. One key is issued per family. Confirm the gate is locked when exiting.
Report any issues with the gate lock to the President immediately.
Do not slam the gate to prevent injury or damage to the locking mechanism.
Pool Cover
The pool cover key is in a lockbox under the utility clock. Code: “CVP.”
Close the pool cover after 6 PM if you are the last member present or reasonably expect to be.
Never leave the pool cover partially open—this poses a drowning risk.
Only members over 16 may operate the pool cover. Ages 14–18 may operate it with parent instruction. Ask the President for guidance if unsure.
Close umbrellas and pool cover after use, especially before sunset.
Quiet Enjoyment
Keep music and other sound devices at low volumes to avoid disturbing others.
Use headphones whenever possible.
Violations will result in one warning before further action is considered by the Pool Committee.
Swimming Hours and Safety
Do not swim alone if it can be avoided.
No swimming after dark or before sunrise.
Health and Hygiene
No swimming for at least 72 hours after a diarrheal illness, per California law.
If a fecal event occurs, the pool must be closed for 72 hours.
Report any water quality concerns to staff immediately.
No urinating in the pool; educate children on this rule.
It is preferred that swimmers take a brief soap shower before entering to help with sanitation and chlorine cost management.
Final Notes
Always use common sense and good judgment, prioritizing safety and quiet enjoyment.
Basic pool rules are also posted on metal signs under the cabana.
Thank you for helping to keep the pool safe and enjoyable for all.
